Urban Splash for Lakeshore, Bristol
Urban Splash is renowned for its innovative approach to rejuvenating disused buildings and turning them into sustainable 21st century structures. Lakeshore, the Grade II listed former Imperial Tobacco headquarters in Hartcliffe, Bristol, is testament to this. Working with architects Acanthus Ferguson Mann, we have begun to bring the building back to life. It’s a true example of sustainability – geothermal boreholes, an ETFE roof and the resident’s electric car club. Best of all, we’re reusing an existing building – the ultimate in recycling! It’s not just about being environmentally sustainable; we’re looking at the local economy too. We’re using the project as a way of boosting employment and activity in the area through our Local Apprenticeship Scheme and Social Enterprise Initiative, as well as engaging the local community through creating a community fishing club.
